My wife Emily and I have been married for 11 years. But I remember at the very beginning of our dating relationship, I had an injury that landed me in the hospital for several days. My main concern while in that hospital bed was not my own personal health, it was how I was going to look when my girlfriend at the time would come and visit me. Because let’s face it – nobody looks too great in a hospital gown!
And so I remember, even in all that pain, I had to make sure that my hair was combed, and my face was shaved because I had to make a good impression. Well, I’m so thankful that that girlfriend saw me at my worst and chose to love me anyway. And you know what? I’m thankful that my Savior does the same for us.
Romans 5:8 says, “But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners."
Be reminded that you don’t have to clean yourself up first before coming to God. He’s seen you at your worst and He loves you anyway. He sent his Son to die for you.
It’s time to start over, starting now. Today is Day One.
