Jesus is the epitome of "love endures all things."
He chose to trade life in Heaven for a life he knew would end on a cross. He chose suffering. He chose heartbreak. He chose exposure to temptation. He chose being betrayed. He chose to endure all these things because of His great love for us.
"By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers." - 1 John 3:16
Are you willing to endure the hardships - even if God calls you to a life of poverty so you can share His love with those around you?
Are you willing to endure ridicule for your belief in Jesus, even if it means constantly being teased at school or work?
Are you willing?
The Apostle Paul said, "everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ and become one with him." (Philippians 3:8)
Love endures every hardship with an unshakable, unmovable confidence in the goodness of God. Even when it feels like life isn't fair, love endures knowing that God is with us and will use us and our present situation for His glory. Jesus told us we would have trouble in the world (John 16:33), but we shouldn't be worried, scared, or fearful because He has already conquered the world. Because of His enduring love for us and the strength He gives us, we can endure.
- Today's Prayer -
Thank you for your enduring love for me. There are times, I confess, when I feel like giving up and giving in. When obstacles come my way, help me to see them through the eyes of love. Part of being your child means enduring hardships. Thank you, that I don't and won't walk through the hard times alone because you walk with me and ahead of me, leading me the entire way.
