Have you experienced a time in your life when you finally felt comfortable?
Things may not have been perfect, but you were settled and had reached a place where you felt like you were able to coast for a bit.
And then, just like that, you begin to feel that gentle nudge, calling you to step out of your comfort zone and move towards something new.
God’s call on our lives to make room for something new can be intimidating at times, but it’s a necessary part of our faith journey.
In Isaiah 43:18-19, God tells the Israelites, “But forget all that - it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
Do you know what the best part about that verse is? God makes a way for us to live out whatever it is He is calling us to do, even when we feel scared or stuck. He gives us everything we need to embrace the change. All we have to do is make room in our lives for Him to move, and trust that He knows what He’s doing!
So don’t hold on too tightly to things you may find comforting. Let God be your comfort! He is doing a new thing. So unclench your fists and surrender. Embrace the change.
God’s goodness is waiting on the other side.
He promises to never let us down.
