SHINE-FM listener and volunteer Shannon Ament is doing something unique this Christmas for her two sons. She got the idea from this blog; it's called Heart of Christmas - kind of like Elf on the Shelf but more positive.
"Every day they will have to find baby Jesus (he will move and the boys know I'm the one moving him) and have some sort of task. While some of the days will involve fun as a family, I'm also going to incorporate service and giving to others," Ament writes on Facebook.
Some of their upcoming activities will include a trip to Valley View Farms to pick out a Christmas ornament for each boy to give to each other, volunteering at their local animal shelter by reading books to lonely animals, and serving meals at a local homeless shelter (shhhh...the kids don't know these special suprises yet, so if you know them, don't spoil the surprise!).
Shannon adds, "Love that my kids are searching for Jesus every morning!"
We thought this was great and fun way to intentionally celebrate Christmas and God's gift to us through Jesus.
