And, boy, did we! Tracey and Todd represented the 95.1 SHINE-FM community in the American Dairy Council North East's Undeniably Dairy Shake-Off Milkshake Contest at the Maryland State Fair.
We created our own special milkshake, tested it out at our staff meeting, and had the opportunity to compete against other Baltimore media and have our shake taste tested by a panel of expert judges that included Governor Hogan, the Dairy Princess of Maryland, and the Secretary of Agriculture.
We came SO CLOSE to winning. We were announced as winners, had the trophy in our hands, the crowd was clapping, and then... the Steve Harvey moment.
They called for a recount, and the team at FOX 45 was crowned winner with their EF5 Tornado Shake. They kindly included us in their winner photo. Take a listen to Todd tell Jack & Erin what happened.
Oh well! That's the way the shake spills sometimes! Either way, we're proud of our almost win and we were proud to represent the SHINE-FM community at the State Fair.
Want to try our had-the-trophy-in-our-hands-before-it-was-snatched-away milkshake? The real name is The Best of Baltimore Milkshake because it pairs two of Baltimore's best things: Old Bay and Berger Cookies. Enjoy!
5 medium scoops of vanilla ice cream (approximately 1 1/4 cup of ice cream)
2 Berger Cookies, broken into pieces
1 1/5 tsp Old Bay Seasoning
3 Tbls milk
Aerosol whipped cream
1 Berger Cookie, broken in to small pieces
1 tsp Old Bay Seasoning
Sprinkle 1 tsp of Old Bay Seasoning on a plate. Dip two glass rims into water or more ice cream, and then dip in to Old Bay Seasoning to rim glasses.
In blender container, add ice cream, Berger Cookies, Old bay Seasoning, and milk. Blend on high for 30 seconds or until combined. Pour into glasses. Top with whipped cream and Berger Cookie pieces, and enjoy!
