Donation Questions

What is a SHINE Partner?
If you give $30 or more monthly, or a $360 or more one-time gift, you become a SHINE partner.

If I give monthly do I have to call in and renew every year?
No. Monthly, recurring gifts continue until 95.1 SHINE-FM receives 10 days’ notification to cancel.

If I have a question about my gift, who do I call?
We’d be happy to help you! Just let us know what we can do regarding your mail, phone calls, receipting, benefits or changes in the amount or way you give. You can email Kellye Beaman or call at 410-584-9790, ext. 607 during business hours.

Is it secure if I donate online?
Yes. You can check that your online gifts are secure by noting the “https” at the beginning of the url address. The “s” means secure.

Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes, it is. Donations are tax-deductible to the full extent permitted by the law. 95.1 SHINE-FM is a ministry of The Peter and John Radio Fellowship, Inc. which is an exempt organization as described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. EIN #52-6051058.

If you receive any goods or services in exchange for your donation, their fair market value will be reflected on your receipt and the tax deductible amount of your donation will be the net amount after deducting the fair market value of the goods and services received.

The New CARES Act and My Charitable Gift

Usually, the only people who qualify for a charitable contribution deduction are those who itemize their contributions. The deduction reduces taxable income once the donor’s adjusted gross income (AGI) has been calculated. (Your AGI determines eligibility for certain tax breaks.)

The deduction usually only allows taxpayers to deduct donations that are up to 60% of their AGI.

However, the new $300 deduction from the CARES Act is specifically for those who don’t itemize their deductions and would typically not get any tax benefit from donations. Since it’s considered an above-the-line deduction, the IRS applies it when calculating your AGI.

Bottom line, now is a wonderful time to give. RVR/SHINE-FM has a gap, and you can help fill it. Additionally, you could get a tax benefit from doing so.

Having trouble hearing us during the summer months?

When the weather gets warmer, you might have trouble hearing the radio signal for 95.1 SHINE-FM. This is caused by inversion – the refraction of radio waves due to the change in density in the atmosphere between colder air and warmer air. On certain warmer days, this impacts the radio signals, causing massive static and, in some areas, an inability to tune into the signal at all.

Don’t worry, though. You can still listen to 95.1 SHINE-FM on your Alexa device, the SHINE-FM app, or stream live.
