The 95.1 SHINE-FM Semester in Media internship program exists to provide hands-on experience and personal spiritual growth within the world of Media.

Participants, who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, will have the opportunity to gain practical knowledge about the many facets of media.

If you have a passion for sales, digital media, production, video, promotions, or community outreach, then Semester in Media may be a perfect fit for you.

Promotions and Community Engagement Intern

95.1 SHINE-FM is seeking an intern with a heart for community outreach and an interest in radio promotions. The intern hired for this position must be comfortable interacting with the station’s listeners in a positive and encouraging manner.

The intern is required to have weeknight and weekend availability. It is highly recommended that the intern is working towards a degree in communications, marketing, or business.

Interns will gain experience in the following areas:

  • Planning and coordinating local community outreach events and contests
  • Representing 95.1 SHINE-FM at concerts and other station events
  • Building and communicating with a volunteer team
  • Creating radio promotions
  • Opportunities to create compelling social media messages that connect with the SHINE-FM community
Video Production Intern

95.1 SHINE-FM is seeking an intern with knowledge, interest and passion for content creation. More specifically, the creation of video content. The intern hired for this position will need to have organizational skills, time management skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Intern must be able to carry out our mission of bringing positive and encouraging messaging to our listeners. It is highly recommended, but not a requirement, that that intern is working towards a degree in video production, filmmaking, communications, marketing or broadcast journalism. The intern is required to have weeknight and weekend availability. They also must be proficient in Adobe Suite.

Interns will gain experience in the following areas:

  • Content creation for Brighter Media Group brands.
  • Various marketing projects and creation of motion graphics for use.
  • Graphic design
  • Working in a fast-paced, non-profit media organization.
SHINE-FM Morning Show Intern

95.1 SHINE-FM is seeking an intern with knowledge, interest and passion for radio. The intern hired for this position will need to have organizational skills, time management skills, and the ability to work well in a fast-paced environment.

Intern must be able to carry out our mission of bringing positive and encouraging messaging to our listeners. It is highly recommended, but not a requirement, that that intern is working towards a degree in communications, marketing, advertising or broadcast journalism. The intern is required to have weeknight and weekend availability.

Interns will gain experience in the following areas:

  • Ins and outs of producing a radio show
  • Learn to digitally edit audio in a Morning show setting
  • Learn the basics of running and creating content for our show’s website and social media.
Sales Intern

95.1 SHINE-FM is seeking an intern with an interest in radio and digital advertising sales. The intern hired for this position will need to have organizational skills, strong interpersonal communication skills, the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and desire to learn about marketing/business.

Intern must be motivated by the ministry-focused facets of our organization. It is highly recommended that the intern is working towards a degree in marketing, advertising, digital media, management, or business.

Interns will gain experience in the following areas:

  • Identifying and prospecting for new business
  • Creating advertising solutions for businesses
  • Growing the existing advertiser base
  • Research to aid in sales process
  • Assisting in the service of existing clients
  • Working on digital assets
  • Digital sales and marketing

Who is eligible to apply?

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student.

What are the application deadlines?

  • Fall Deadline: June 30th
  • Spring Deadline: November 30th
  • Summer 2021 Deadline: March 31st

When will this internship take place?

  • Fall Internship: 8-12 weeks beginning in early September
  • Spring Internship: 8-12 weeks beginning in early February
  • Summer Internship: 8-12 weeks beginning in early June

What does a typical week look like?

You will work five hours each day, Monday-Friday. Certain internship roles may require evening and weekend hours. You will work a maximum of 25 hours each week. Ability to travel to both Halethorpe and Bel Air office locations is necessary.

Will I need my own transportation?

In order to fulfill your daily responsibilities with ease, a reliable form of transportation is necessary for your internship.

Can I receive college credit for my internship?

You may receive college credit pending clearance from your university or college. If your school offers internship opportunities, we will work directly with them to ensure that you meet the necessary requirements.

When will I be notified about acceptance into the Semester in Media internship program?

You will be notified approximately one month before the start date of your internship.

Is this internship paid?

Yes. All interns will receive $11.00 per hour.
