Are You Being Stretched?

I was at the chiropractor and part of my treatment was to put me on the decompression/expansion table - and, yes, it's kinda like a medieval torture table. They strapped me onto this table so very tightly - much tighter than when you're on a roller coaster that turns upside down, which made me wonder... are we going upside down?

There was a thick strap under my bottom like a harness and a strap that came through my legs and about five other straps coming from the sides. Well, okay, maybe three. I am being dramatic, but I'm 55, and I've earned it.

Anyway, the therapist gives one more pull on those straps just to be sure I can't quite expand my lungs and leaves me there for 10 minutes.

Ten minutes of being stretched.

Ten minutes of this jointed table separating and moving while stretching out my spine.

As much as I hated it, when I got off that table, I felt better.

I walked better.

I walked straighter - like I hadn't walked in awhile because of the pain I've been in.

Turns out, it was a glorious thing to be stretched.

God knows just how far you need.

"Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water."

Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!"

Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him.

"You of little faith," he said, "Why did you doubt?"
