Dress Up

My mom always dresses up nice no matter where she goes. Even when I was little, I marveled at beautiful she would look to go anywhere...even to the grocery store. When she looked her best, it made her feel better, even if on the inside she was battling something. She still does that. No matter what's going on in her life, her hair is done, her clothes are immaculate and of course- lipstick just finishes that elegant look. While I don't dress up like she does, I am a big believer that lipstick covers a multitude of concerns. I always have my lipstick on even when I'm in sweats. It makes me feel like a boss.

So.. what do you think gives this little angel, Tylo, courage for her chemo treatment? Dressing up like a princess. She's discovered a secret. Sometimes we have to put on hope and joy like a garment. Children get this! Dressing up makes it feel like all things are possible. They can become the super hero of the story, the princess that rules her kingdom with great love. 4 year old Tylo found her "brave" and now her family has started an organization to help other kids find theirs. Have you found your brave? Put on the full armor of God.
And for me- a little lipstick helps too.

"Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."- Paul, Ephesians 6:13-17
