God's love is the most incredible love. It truly is never ending. Even when we continually make poor representations of His name, He still loves us. It's almost a love too deep to understand or believe.
Lamentations 3:22 says, "The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease."
Miraculously, God chose us - to love, to send His son to die for us, to give us everlasting life with Himself. You can believe He wouldn't have gone to the trouble of moving Heaven and earth only to later give up on you. That's not how He works.
When 1st Corinthians 13:7a says, "Love never gives up," it means that, not only will God never give up on us, but that we shouldn't give up on others either. When you're dealing with a family member or a friend who you've been praying and praying for, it can be tiring. You wonder if your prayers are even being heard. It's tempting to want to throw in the towel, to give up.
So how do we keep going when we want to quit? We can draw strength from God by praying ("As soon as I pray, you answer me; you encourage me by giving me strength." - Psalm 138:3), and we can remember that our ability to love comes from God ("We love because God first loved us." - 1 John 4:19). With His strength and never ending love to draw on, we can have and give love that never gives up.
- Today's Prayer -
I've been praying for _____ so long now. I know change happens in Your time but I'm tired. Please refresh my soul and give me strength. I know they mean as much and more to You as they do to me. Help me to continue to love them when I don't want to, when I feel rejected, and when I want to give up. Help me to have Your love that never gives up.
