Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth!
Worship the Lord with gladness.
Come before him, singing with joy.
Acknowledge that the Lord is God!
He made us, and we are his.
We are his people, the sheep of his pasture.
Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise.
Give thanks to him and praise his name.
For the Lord is good.
His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
We don't get to sit, imagine, and enjoy the goodness of God enough. Would you allow yourself, for just a moment, to be transported into the joy of this psalm?
When we come before God singing with joy, we give him our heart instead of keeping for ourselves.
When we acknowledge that the Lord is God, we become aware that we aren't in control - He is.
When we remind ourselves that God made us and we are His, we remind ourselves that God has created us for a very specific purpose, and each of us has purpose.
When we remember that we are His, the sheep in His pasture, and as our Shepherd, He'll never let one of us go (Luke 15:3-7).
When we sincerely tell God that He is good, we are reminding ourselves of all the blessings that He's given us and others. As faithful as He is to us, He will be to our children and beyond.
When we do all of these things, we feel joy - maybe not Tom Cruise jumping off Oprah's couch joy - but the kind of joy that is peaceful, calm, and lasts through the storm.
