See You At The Pole

I was an awkward high school student. I had no idea how to share my faith with my peers.

My life was radically changed by Jesus, but how could I explain that? What if people made fun of me? What if I lost friends because I’m “different” now?

These were real concerns.

See You at the Pole changed this.

On a September morning before school, over 50 high school students and faculty gathered around our flagpole to pray. We prayed for our school year, our peers, our friends, our families, and our community.

I was encouraged to see the faces of other people like me. They were figuring out how to live out their faith at school too. It was a powerful moment because I realized I was not alone.

It also started a conversation. It wasn’t normal for people holding hands around the flagpole before school. Other students wondered what we were doing.

In my English class, a kid next to me asked if I saw the people that morning and if I knew what they were doing.

It gave me the opportunity to share with him that I was one of those people and we were praying for him. He looked surprised and asked why someone would do that for him. The answer was simple, Jesus.

Because Jesus loves and cares for him, we do too.

See You At The Pole (SYAP) 2018 is Wednesday, September 26th. Students all over the world will come together to pray for their schools and cities.

Maybe you have a student planning to attend SYAP or maybe this is the first time you’ve ever heard of it. Will you consider joining me in prayer alongside of them this Wednesday wherever you are?

My prayer for students this year is that:

  • God would give the students who know Him love for their peers, even the ones that are hard to love.
  • He would give them boldness and confidence to share Jesus with those who don’t know Him.

“Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 (NLT)
