Volunteer Spotlight: Helping Up Mission

As someone who is a little shy and quiet frankly scared of volunteering, I have no idea what to look for in an organization. Are they always a non-profit? Where do I even begin to look? I feel so under prepared, and overwhelmed. But like the “Volunteer Fear?” article says, don’t allow your insecurities get in the way of spreading love. So, I won’t and I did some research.

If you think of things that you enjoy or hobbies you like, you can search based on that. For example, if you’re a runner, then maybe a charity run would be the perfect opportunity for you. Personally, I like knowing that the organization is Christian based, or in some way introduces people to God. There are countless ways to serve and tons of organizations to volunteer through - some people like to get involved by tutoring, serving food, or donating. Whatever your passion is, there is a way you can give your time in order to show people the love of Christ!

Helping Up Mission is a one-stop-shop for volunteer opportunities. They are in our Baltimore area, and are dedicated to helping those experiencing poverty, homelessness, or addiction. This local Baltimore organization has something for everyone. Those who prefer hands-on volunteering can be a part of their dining crew or their tutoring group. If hands-on volunteering isn’t your thing, there are plenty of donation opportunities available. Helpling Up Mission accepts monetary gifts, as well as clothes, canned goods, toiletries, and educational supplies.

No matter what way you like to get involved, there is something here for you at Helping Up Mission!
