What Am I Doing Wrong?

Do you ever feel discouraged because something isn’t working out the way you hoped and prayed, and you ask the question, "Lord, what am I doing wrong?"

I found myself asking that question recently.

It’s a heavy load to bear when you think it’s somehow up to you. The weight of responsibility can make even the strongest shoulders sag.

Here’s what the Lord showed me when I asked Him that: "You're asking the wrong question."

It’s not up to me to make something happen. I don’t need to plead, manipulate, or even persuade.

Here’s what IS up to me: show up aligned and connected to the Holy Spirit, be faithful to Jesus, do what He says, lift Him up, pray in all circumstances, surrender my way and my will and trust He will accomplish His purposes.

He will provide.

He will be exalted.

He will be faithful.

It really does take the pressure off when you realize God is moving and speaking and all you need to do is hear, listen, and follow.

The wine supply ran out during the festivities, so Jesus’ mother told him, “They have no more wine.”

“Dear woman, that’s not our problem,” Jesus replied. “My time has not yet come.”

But his mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”

John 2:3-5

“Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing."

John 15:5
