Reminder From A Rainbow
Do you remember seeing a rainbow a few weeks ago? If you didn’t see it for yourself, you probably saw it posted across Instagram stories and Facebook accompanied by the heart eyes emoji.
I saw that rainbow peeking through the trees myself and I can confirm is was most definitely “😍 ” worthy.
But I didn’t think much of that vivid rainbow, or really any rainbow, until I recently refreshed myself on the story of Noah.
I can’t lie… it’s been a while since I read about Noah, and I completely forgot about the promise God gave him after the flood.
Genesis 9:13-15 says “I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life.”
Am I the only one who had ZERO idea that rainbows are a sign of God’s promise to us? I always just thought they were God’s way of showing off a bit.
There’s something so beautiful about God continuing to give us breathtaking rainbows as reminders of a promise He made thousands of years ago. It’s just another way He demonstrates that He has always been and always will be faithful in keeping His Word, not only to Noah but to all of us.
I think this rainbow rule can apply to all of nature too – a gentle breeze, birds chirping in the spring, the smell after it rains… it all is God’s way of telling us that He is here, He loves us, and that He always keeps His promises.
